Art Class: Animal Portraits

Did you know that dogs, cats, and other pets encourage playfulness, laughter, and exercise, which can help boost your immune system and increase your energy? In this art class, you’ll use inking pens and watercolor to create a pet portrait to celebrate the human-animal bond that adds vitality to life. You are invited to bring a photo (either a printed photo or on an iPad) of a favorite animal or pet. Don’t worry if you don’t have an image: instructor Maria Ojascastro will provide photos of a few adorable animals for you to choose from.

Contemporary Dance Class

Join us for a special evening of dance! PALM welcomes Sarah Hultsch, a visiting instructor from Vallauris, France, who will offer members and guests a beginner/intermediate class of contemporary dance. The class will begin by exploring basic contemporary techniques, then move on to a more artistic phase, including light choreography and/or time for creativity. Please wear comfortable clothes and socks to move around in. Sarah instructs dancers of all ages and abilities at Studios Actuels de la Danse, recipient of the award for Best Contemporary Dance School of the Year in 2020. She is also a member of the UNESCO International Dance Council.

Start relieving pain, preventing injury, recovering properly, and improving your posture by learning the foundations of ELDOA! Join us in the Oak Room for a pop-up class with certified ELDOA trainer Angie Campbell to learn some of the myofascial stretches and osteopathic techniques used frequently in the ELDOA practice. These exercises will help create space and balance in the joints and surrounding tissues to improve pain and posture.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release techniques can be a helpful addition to a regular exercise regime to help improve mobility, prevent injury, release tension, and aid in muscle recovery before or after exercise or movement. In this practical session with Heather Walther, PT, participants will learn self-myofascial release techniques from head to toe. Please wear comfortable clothing to move around. Participants must have the ability to get up and down from the exercise mat.

Mammography Screening

All PALM members ages 40 and older and their guests are invited to schedule a mammography screening with the Siteman Cancer Center Mammography Van, which will be parked in the PALM Health parking lot. The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine offers mammograms at no cost to those who qualify. Funding is provided by Susan G. Komen® Missouri. The Mammography Van follows all CDC safety precautions regarding COVID-19 to ensure members stay safe.
