Contemporary Dance Class

Join us for a special evening of dance! PALM welcomes Sarah Hultsch, a visiting instructor from Vallauris, France, who will offer members and guests a beginner/intermediate class of contemporary dance. The class will begin by exploring basic contemporary techniques, then it will incorporate light choreography, and finally it will include some time for individual creativity. Please wear comfortable clothes and socks to move around in. Sarah instructs dancers of all ages and abilities at Studios Actuels de la Danse, recipient of the award for Best Contemporary Dance School of the Year in 2020. She is also a member of the UNESCO International Dance Council.

This two-session social dance workshop series, Rhythm and Moves, is designed to build confidence and creativity so you can dance with a partner to any kind of music. No experience is necessary. Leather or felt-soled shoes are recommended. No high heels, please, to protect the beautiful Oak Room wood floor.

Back by popular demand! Amanda Chesnutt, CWC and Ashley Wiegand, PhD, LMFT, BCN will present an encore of their July seminar Developing Your Creativity. Ashley will introduce the neurobiology of creativity: what goes on in the brain when we are being creative and when we are not. Amanda will lead the group through a series of movement exercises that help build new pathways in the brain while discussing creativity in our daily lives.

Latin Rhythms

Classes will cover partnering skills, foundational steps and patterns, basic footwork, Cuban hip motion, and unique character, rhythm, and style. Come with or without a partner. Rotating partners is encouraged, as it significantly increases learning and retention. These classes are appropriate for all levels: no prior dance experience necessary. Leather or felt-soled shoes are best. No high heels, please, to protect the floor. Class size is limited to 24 people.
