In this Lunch and Learn, world-renowned psychiatrist Dr. C. Robert Cloninger, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis and Director of the Anthropedia Institute, will describe how to recognize and cultivate personality traits that help us to live more healthy, satisfying, and meaningful lives. Using the Temperament and Character Inventory, which he developed, he will identify how the way we learned to adapt to life’s challenges and opportunities affects our physical, mental, and social well-being.

Come to the atrium to shop for fresh spring gifts from a variety of local St. Louis vendors! A portion of all proceeds will go to the Anthropedia Foundation to support their programs and the work they do in the community. Vendors will feature unique items including designer clothing, handmade furniture, luxury skincare, stylish handbags, and elegant accessories.

Café

Take inspiration from St. Louis Art Museum’s Art in Bloom celebration. Maria Ojascastro, Art for Well-Being instructor, will have textured papers, gelli printing plates, paint, and more to help you create artwork inspired by flowers and fine art. Both novice and experienced artists will enjoy stretching their creativity in this mixed media art workshop. Kombucha, tea, and wine will be available, along with light snacks and refreshments.

Virtual Art Studio

Both shy and experienced artists are invited to express themselves with color and texture while learning non-figurative painting. Art for Well-Being instructor Maria Ojascastro will teach you how to blend acrylic paint to create secondary and tertiary colors. Then she will challenge you to experiment with a palette knife, plastic fork, and aluminum foil to create a non-figurative painting inspired by the work of Amy Sillman. Enjoy 90 minutes of creativity to exercise your brain and boost your mood while receiving personalized instruction.

Mammography Screening

All PALM members ages 40 and older and their guests are invited to schedule a mammography screening with the Siteman Cancer Center Mammography Van, which will be parked in the PALM Health parking lot on October 6. The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine offers mammograms at no cost to women who qualify. Funding is provided by Susan G. Komen® Missouri. The Mammography Van follows all CDC safety precautions regarding COVID-19 to ensure members stay safe.

Achieving Calmness through the Heart-Mind Connection

Stress and emotions impact the heart, but the reverse is also true. Your body has the inherent power to calm down your mind when you are tense. In this webinar, cardiologist Dr. Lauren Munsch Dal Farra discusses stress and the connection between the heart and mind. She will also address how you can tap into the heart-mind connection when you are in a state of stress.

Two Outdoor Class Events

Double the classes, double the fun! Join us in the PALM parking lot for one or both mask-free outdoor classes, weather permitting. We’ll have Cardio and Strength Interval Training at 10:15am and Active Stretch at 11:30am with Jessica Dycus.
