Celebrating Women’s Fitness Class Event

In honor of National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, Heather Walther will teach a fitness class in the Oak Room that emphasizes the importance of variety in exercise. The first 30 minutes of the class will focus on strength training and sculpting; the next 20 minutes will incorporate yoga and stretching, and the last 10 minutes will include myofascial release. Heather will talk about her intention as a fitness instructor to help women support their body and its tissues, not beat it up or burn it out. Her goal is to help women stay as active as possible for as long as possible, avoiding injury and loving the exercise they do along the way.

Art Class: Paint Like Bob Ross

Get inspired by the wisdom of legendary painter Bob Ross. In this art class, you’ll learn how to make happy little clouds from happy accidents. Participants will create a landscape painting using acrylic paints and canvas board. Join Maria Ojascastro, Art for Well-Being instructor, for an afternoon of creativity and joy.

Balanced Fitness Class Event

In this pop-up class event, personal trainer Brent Haddock will take you through 30 minutes of strength training exercises and 30 minutes of stretching. These foundational strengthening and stretching movements form the building blocks of a balanced exercise routine. This class will give you a taste of our Balanced Living Program for healthy and sustainable weight management (receive $200 off when you sign up in January). The class will be the same on both Saturdays.

Art Class: Collage, Color, and Creativity

In this art class, teaching artist Maria Ojascastro will encourage participants to reimagine their world by using pattern, texture, and color. Both novice and experienced artists will enjoy 90 minutes of collaging onto a figure drawing template with other creative individuals.

Contemporary Dance Class

Join us for a special evening of dance! PALM welcomes Sarah Hultsch, a visiting instructor from Vallauris, France, who will offer members and guests a beginner/intermediate class of contemporary dance. The class will begin by exploring basic contemporary techniques, then it will incorporate light choreography, and finally it will include some time for individual creativity. Please wear comfortable clothes and socks to move around in. Sarah instructs dancers of all ages and abilities at Studios Actuels de la Danse, recipient of the award for Best Contemporary Dance School of the Year in 2020. She is also a member of the UNESCO International Dance Council.

Put a little love in your heart! In this art class with artist Maria Ojascastro, you’ll experiment with watercolor to make thank you cards, Valentine’s Day cards, and more. Both novice and experienced artists will enjoy 90 minutes of creativity in this afternoon art class.

Proper Form for Common Yoga Poses

Join yoga instructor Julie Funke in the Oak Room for a yoga workshop! Julie will teach the proper form for common yoga poses and correct your posture as you go through each pose. She will suggest alternate positions and adjustments to make to each pose if you have injuries or limitations. If you’re just getting into yoga or if you’ve always wondered if you’re doing it correctly, this workshop is for you!

ELDOA Class Event

Join us in the Oak Room for a pop-up ELDOA class with Angie Campbell, certified ELDOA trainer and yoga therapist. The ELDOA method creates space and balance in the body by using myofascial stretches and specific osteopathic techniques to improve posture, relieve pain, and prevent injury. This class is appropriate for anyone seeking to improve posture, relieve chronic or acute pain, recover from training, or enhance overall well-being.

Art Class: Contour Line Drawing

A continuous contour line drawing is one in which a single, unbroken line is used to develop an image. In this art class, teaching artist Maria Ojascastro will encourage both novice and experienced artists to experiment with inking pens, watercolor, and pastels to exercise their creativity and bring home a mixed media work of art.

Learn the proper proportions for drawing a portrait with instructor Maria Ojascastro. Both novice and advanced artists will receive step-by-step instructions and encouragement to experiment with blending pigment using luxurious PanPastels, a range of professional artists’ quality soft pastels that can be mixed and applied like paint.
