Developing Your Creativity

Back by popular demand! Amanda Chesnutt, CWC and Ashley Wiegand, PhD, LMFT, BCN will present an encore of their July seminar Developing Your Creativity. Ashley will introduce the neurobiology of creativity: what goes on in the brain when we are being creative and when we are not. Amanda will lead the group through a series of movement exercises that help build new pathways in the brain while discussing creativity in our daily lives.

Sip ‘n Paint: Focus on Texture

Café

Learn how to emphasize texture in painting. In this art workshop, participants will experiment with acrylic paint, modeling paste, and other additives to bring subtle texture to the painting they create. PALM Health’s Art for Well-Being instructor, Maria Ojascastro, will provide materials, instructions, and samples to inspire creativity. Coffee, kombucha, tea, and wine will be available, along with some light snacks and refreshments.

Learn how visual art moves your mind to action by giving you expressive tools that help you adapt to everyday challenges. Art for Well-Being instructor Maria Ojascastro will teach you how to utilize Harvard’s Project Zero Observational routine to observe carefully and interpret thoughtfully. She will show you how ever-increasing fine motor and visual challenges help open new neural networks, increasing neuroplasticity and self-directedness.

Come create artwork that can be shared with others! In this art workshop, Art for Well-Being instructor Maria Ojascastro will teach participants to design and carve their own linoleum block prints to create handmade greeting cards. Participants will connect emotion with creativity to express gratitude, sympathy, friendship, and more through artistically crafted hand-printed images.

Take art into another dimension! In this sculpture workshop, you’ll use miniature boxes, found objects, and pre-printed text as a vehicle for creative expression. Art for Well-Being instructor, Maria Ojascastro, will provide examples, guidance, and materials, but participants are encouraged to bring small drawings, photos, or objects of meaning to include in their sculpture. Kombucha, tea, and wine will be available, along with light snacks and refreshments.

Art Class: Portraits 101

Drawing portraits is a timeless practice that can help improve your artistic skill and increase your appreciation of the beauty inherent in each person.
