Dr. Claude Robert Cloninger is an internationally renowned psychiatrist and researcher known for his groundbreaking work on the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual foundations of mental health. He is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine, where he previously served as the Wallace Renard Professor of Psychiatry, Professor of Psychology and Genetics, and Director of the Center for Well-Being. Currently, he serves as Director of the Institute for Research and Development at the Anthropedia Foundation. Dr. Cloninger is a fellow of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Academy of Medicine, reflecting his influential contributions to science and clinical care.

Dr. Cloninger’s work has advanced understanding in areas such as general psychopathology, substance dependence, and personality disorders. As an expert clinician and academic, he is especially focused on cultivating well-being through a multidimensional model of personality that integrates character and temperament with spiritual development. His approach continues to inspire new methods of mental health care that are both evidence-based and deeply humanistic.
