Tips for Healthy Running

Form, footwear, and diet all play a part in being a healthy runner. Ashley Kumar, physical therapist, will discuss the ideal form for running as well as how to perform an effective warm-up and strength training program to prevent common running injuries. She will also discuss optimal nutrition for active runners, as well as the best footwear to improve runs.

Sip ‘n Focus on Form

Oak Room

Shy as well as confident artists are invited to enjoy the benefits of two hours of creativity. Art for Well-Being instructor Maria Ojascastro will show beginners how to break down organic forms into geometric forms, then add texture and color to bring it to life. More experienced artists will be given an extra challenge to make their negative space unique to their mood or personality. Coffee, kombucha, tea, and wine will be available, along with some light snacks and refreshments.

Movement is essential for life, and the quality of our movement plays a critical role in our well-being, from injury prevention, to managing pain triggers, to performance outcomes, and beyond. Movement impairments can be a primary cause of many nagging and debilitating conditions. Proper Form for Common Yoga Poses

Join yoga instructor Julie Funke in the Oak Room for a yoga workshop! Julie will teach the proper form for common yoga poses and correct your posture as you go through each pose. She will suggest alternate positions and adjustments to make to each pose if you have injuries or limitations. If you’re just getting into yoga or if you’ve always wondered if you’re doing it correctly, this workshop is for you!
