Scott Jamison

Scott Jamison, MD, IFMCP

Dr. Jamison is an internal medicine specialist from Blacksburg, Virginia, where he practiced from 1991-2019. He is board-certified in internal medicine and trained in functional medicine as an IFM Certified Practitioner with substantial experience ranging from routine primary care to complex medical care.

His training in functional medicine has had a profound effect on his practice of medicine and patient care. Whether an individual seeks preventive care or has a chronic illness, Dr. Jamison sees great potential to combine functional medicine with his extensive knowledge and skills in primary care and internal medicine, blending the best of both into one clinical model.

Dr. Jamison has special training and interest in tick-borne illness, Lyme disease, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and illnesses from mold and mycotoxins.

“I have always felt that I was here to listen to people with awareness and compassion… to learn about them and their families, their personal style. I treat my patients like family. This approach is very applicable to functional medicine — learning how patients got here, how we can change their trajectory, and how we can empower them with the guidance and tools to improve their world.”

“My interest in functional medicine has increased over the years, but I always leaned in this direction, helping patients with diet and exercise — what is referred to as lifestyle medicine. When a family member was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I was disappointed in her care and looked for supportive and complementary care. In doing my research and helping her, I was exposed to a huge body of data regarding functional medicine and wanted to commit myself to this approach.”

“PALM Health is a rare setting with a unique clinic model. We provide excellent care for multi-faceted diseases as well as preventive care. We are not the norm, as we are able to practice functional medicine in an integrative model, along with the other providers of well-being care in this wonderful facility. Plus, I get the chance to practice with like-minded individuals throughout the building!”

“My experience with PALM has been exceptional. To be honest, exceptional may even be an understatement. I’m still in the early stages of my treatment plan and have a ways to go. However, Dr. Jamison has done more for me in a few months than six conventional doctors have done in a few years. It’s mind-boggling how he immediately had an idea of what he thought was going on after my second appointment. I was to the point where I thought my symptoms were permanent and was in an extremely bad place. I almost had to go on disability at work; I was an absolute mess. Dr. Jamison not only gave me hope but also is treating the cause of my issues. I felt better within a few weeks of working with him. I also had an appointment with Dr. Trybus and I swear that guy is a wizard. Simply astounding. Please pass along my gratitude to Dr. Jamison and Dr. Trybus. Because of them, I’m on the path to getting my life back.”

“Over the course of the past year, I have struggled with stomach aches and pains. To a degree, they inhibited my daily life. I had to be very careful about what I was eating and what types of activities I was doing later in the day. I tried so many different diets including cutting out meat, dairy, and gluten. I also tried tons of over-the-counter probiotics. None of these remedies helped. I later went to several traditional gastroenterologists. They ran test after test and offered no support or help after tests came back normal. I was told to watch what I ate (eat healthy, which I was already doing), and take antacid as needed. This was not a solution to my problem. I was then recommended to go to PALM Health. At my first appointment, I was greeted with kind staff, eager to help. PALM offered treatments that looked at the whole picture. Dr. Jamison took the time to rule out every possible problem, not just looking at my stomach but all of the other issues that could be in play. After several tests, Dr. Jamison came back with information that would help treat my symptoms and rebalance my stomach. I was given several medications and a plan specific to my needs. After following my plan specifically and using the medications offered directly from PALM, I noticed that my stomach was settling. After about a month, I saw symptoms only a few times per week instead of a few times per day. Now, I almost never have problems with my stomach. I have continued with the plan given to me and have seen so much success after so many doctors were unable to help. I am grateful that PALM Health was able to look at the whole picture and had staff so invested in my well-being, and I am glad that PALM was able to help alleviate my stomach pains.”

“I have been seeing Dr. Jamison for 3 months now. This doctor has done for me more than any other doctors I have been seeing for years. I have a lot of gut and digestive issues and he has helped me tremendously. PALM Health is amazing and they really take the time to listen to you and your concerns. Everyone is really friendly and willing to help.”

“Dr. Scott Jamison is saving my life and my sanity. I have only been seeing him since August, but I am now working full-time for the first time in 7 years because of his treatment. I am already starting to feel better and I haven’t felt this way since I was first diagnosed.”

“Dr. Scott Jamison is a phenomenal doctor with the best bedside manner I could imagine. He is thoughtful and thorough and I feel he cares about me as an individual.”

“I’ve never met a doctor like Dr. Scott Jamison. He is kind and compassionate and cares and listens with both a sympathetic and empathetic ear. He always follows up on my behalf until whatever it is gets resolved. He makes himself available nearly 24/7 for me (I try not to take advantage of that!). He always looks beyond the symptoms to find out what is really going on. I feel so fortunate to be his patient.”
