WHAT IS PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION?
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is also known as physiatry. It is a branch of medicine that is focused on the diagnosis, prevention, and non-surgical treatment of disabilities related to the brain, nerves, bones, and muscles.
HOW DOES DR. KARDESCH PRACTICE?
Dr. Kardesch combines physiatry with integrative medicine. She focuses on the “whole person,” providing a thorough physical exam and taking into account all aspects of her patients’ lives that may be affected by their disability or chronic pain. She helps the patient put the pieces of their medical puzzle together, and together with the patient, works toward the goal of helping them live a more functional, pain-free life. Dr. Kardesch takes a holistic, multifaceted approach to the care of her patients, thinking “outside of the box” and coordinating care between physical therapists, physicians, and other providers to allow for the best outcomes for her patients.
Dr. Kardesch believes in shared decision-making regarding the appropriate use of medicinal cannabis. She emphasizes patient education, indications, contraindications, personalized dosing, and potential positive outcomes.
